CREAMER IS NOT MILK? Can you imagine drinking oil?

Did you resist putting that extra creamer into your drink this morning? If you did, that's probably one of your best decision today. Creamer is first created as non-dairy alternative to milk to target consumers that are lactose intolerant; however, due to the low cost, it is more widely used than a milk replacement. It could be found in your coffee/tea in your neighborhood coffee shop, it could be found in your favorite bubble milk tea.

Despite the deceiving name, creamer is actually made of a combination of sugar and vegetable oil (normally palm oil and coconut oil). Can you imagine drinking oil every morning? Other chemicals are also added to creamer to give it a more creamy taste to imitate milk. Due to the usage of palm oil, creamer is typically very high in LDL (the bad cholesterol) and contains a high level of refined sugar. Consuming too much creamer will increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

If you are lactose intolerant, go for healthy vegetables milk alternative like almond milk, rice milk or soy milk.
